Red Sox Blog, but other Boston Sports Welcome!
I just saw that and was coming over here to post it. Pretty amazing. And this game isn't even at GAB.How about KC getting ahead 5-4? Still early. One funny thing I read in one of the NY papers - the Yanks are on pace to score 950 runs even with the 2-4 record. I find it interesting that they have lost 4 games not because of their pitching which is what everyone thought would be their achilles. Of course it is very early and much like last year, I'm sure they will be back in it at some point.
7-4 Royals now -- Grand Tanyon gave up a couple. So much for their pitching being awesome.
Yeah not mention them having to leave the Wanger in a bit too long. The Small injury played pretty large right there.I'm not going to celebrate too much, since KC's bullpen pretty much sucks - apologies to Jimmy Gobble and Ambiorix Burgos.Wily Mo in for Trot? I hope everything is okay. Either that or Tito wants to make sure the Bronson trade starts to balance out.
And the Beckett trend - start slow and then turn it on?
Yeah, you have to assume the Yanks will win this.I'm worried about Trot also. Hey, since when has he begun wearing the double-flapped (switch-hitting) helmet?
Yeah, I imagine next start they'll have Beckett warming up earlier.
HOLY CRAP THAT WAS THE COOLEST DOUBLE PLAY I'VE EVER SEEN
Sounded amazing - I'll have to catch it on Sports Desk later. Joe described it as a Jai Lai shovel play, whatever that means.Trot started wearing it this year. Said it helped him feel more "balanced."Through 7 in NY.....
Even though it is not in GAB, Cincy has 9 runs - all scored on 6 HRs.
Dessens mows down the Yanks in two innings, so naturally they bring in a new pitcher. Bases loaded, no outs.Yanks will win.
7-6 KC.... 1st and 3rd zero out.Andy Sisco, just like Cisco Systems stock, sinking quickly.
Watch out Yanks - here comes Ambiorix!
Jon Sterling is singing De-rek Je-ter. I kid you not.
Well, it worked. 3R HR.
Sterling - "Sisco will be the losing pitcher."Jeez, I know Rivera is great and all and KC would probably lose a 7 game series to Pawtucket or Columbus, but a bit presumptuos.
Nice objective reporting by Sterling:"Here comes the greatest closer in the history of baseball."
Even better - "Mariano coming into the game is sponsored by UPS Store. For all your shipping needs. I went there yesterday and took care of all my errands. They are the greatest the UPS store."Yikes.
Grudzielandakjlrqaei single to CF...Come on, Royals!
Sweeney gets plunked...Did that on purpose because he could tie the game with one swing.
With Grudziealdkfalkfa on 2B and Sweeney on first..it is up to Mientklhad;aef
WEll there were two strikes on Sweeny and they say never put the tying run on board if at all possible, so I doubt it was on intentional.Plus Sweeney is like 1-20 this season. What I like is Torre coming out to argue while Sweeney is on the ground.
Sweet - Ortiz!!!!!
That's game. Too bad.Ortiz!
Oh well...You know the Yankees sort of lucked out with their tough West Coast trip beginning the season. Yes, they went 2-4, but it wasn't like they had to get acclimated to the time change in the middle of the season. Then they come home to begin the season against the Royals.
Aw crap. Nixon would've had that.
If you study the MFY schedule compared to the Sox, the Yanks definitely have the advantage this year. Look at NY in Sept - they have the only home series with the Sox and the Sox get CHI. And in august the Sox have two west coast trips.
Nice of Foulke to create the save opportunities for Papelbon.
Papelbon is on pace to save 92 games. I know silly - remember two years ago Danny Graves was on pace for like 70 saves through June. And then got released last year.
Right, but when Graves was on pace to save 70, the Reds were on pace to win something like 72. The Sox, on the other hand, are on pace to win 139. Shouldn't be a problem I think -- statistics don't lie.
