I was okay with him coming back out. I mean, there are still many games to be played. I'm willing to call it a game and use him to eat innings, rather than burn up the bullpen.
But yeah, that's what everyone will be screaming about tomorrow.
Wow....Well, I guess that gives something to the very loyal 40+thousand White Sox fans that have been to every game over the years (sell out after sell out) to be happy about...
Wells tomorrow. Big game for Boomer.
Remember, the mission is to get one of the away games...Still one to go....then back to Boston.
I'm very happy I did not skip out of the office to watch that crap.
Ozzie's postgame conference is great. He is going on and on about how his team has had to compete against the World Champs - except this team is not the same team.
Not to hit the panic button too hard here, but I think I am going to start preparing myself for the fact that the Yankees may actually win the World Series this year. Not saying they will, just need to consider the possibility.
Of course Wells could go out an pitch 7 innings of 5 hit ball.
Or he could pitch 5 innings of 7 run ball. Neither would surprise me at this point.
No need to hit the panic button. The lefties did the majority of damage yesterday. They were tee-ing off on bad sliders. Clement just didn't have it. Ok, none of our pitching looked good (except for Bradford).
I would expect Wells to have a good outing tonight. All we have to do is get one in Chicago. One game at a time.
Down 0-2 to Cleveland...Came back and won.
Down 0-2 to Oakland...Came back and won.
Down 0-3 to NY...Came back and won.
This is not the team from last year, but certainly equal to, or better than, the Cleveland comeback...and pitching-wise that Oakland comeback.
I know the score was 14-2, but Chicago is not THAT good. Wells, Wake and Schill should give them some problems. Hopefully we can hit...
Yes. And I'm stuck in the office listening. I set up the TIVO but don't think I can wait it out.
ReplyDeleteNice to see that with (one of the) the fastest man in baseball, Ozzie chose to give up an out to get him over.
whew.
ReplyDeleteThat ball sounded very close to fair.
Yes, it was. This is not a good start, at all.
ReplyDeleteMan, and then he gets the ground ball but slow and down the line...only got the lead runner.
ReplyDeleteOn the flip side, I think we are going to get to Contreras. Not sharp in the first inning.
Also, a nice (almost) comeback by the Padres earlier...Got the go-ahead run to the plate.
ReplyDeletecrap.
ReplyDeleteHoly fuck. This game sucks.
ReplyDeleteare you f'in kidding me.
ReplyDeleteOk, well at least I can get back to work now...Doesn't matter if we get to Contreras at this point. 5-0...Yikes...
ReplyDeleteBronson???
ReplyDeleteOk, so if they score 5 an inning and we score 0, do we still have a chance?
ReplyDeleteYes, we do, I think. C'mon guys, this is CONTRERAS. Own him. Now.
ReplyDelete5-0 is definitely not insurmountable. Get 2 in the 2nd another in the third and a 5-3 game feels a lot different.
ReplyDeleteI don't like that Contreras is getting swing and misses.
My God that's a big strike zone.
ReplyDeleteUgh. Hopefully the Other Matt Clement will show up this time...
ReplyDeleteOk...Clement better bounce back now....nothing happening with the bats yet...
ReplyDeleteOk, one out- no runs
ReplyDeletenice...caught stealing...podsednik tried to rub it in...
ReplyDeleteOkay, here we go...3rd inning. Let's get some runs.
ReplyDeleteYeah!!!!
ReplyDeleteGraf, Damon, Renteria, Ortiz...etc...
The Ortiz Shift bites them in the butt. Cmon Manny.
ReplyDeleteOkay, Manny. Lets do it.
ReplyDeleteNo such luck. One pitch and out.
ReplyDeleteEither of you watching on TV? It's Berman and Sutcliffe, who obviously suck. But Piazza isn't that bad, strangely....
Lead off double wasted...
ReplyDeletewould have been nice to at least have started our scoring....
ReplyDeletePiazza just said "intestinal fortitude" when referring to Clement's return after being beaned. Huh.
ReplyDeleteFuck. Clement missed the spot by over a foot. This game is nearly over.
ReplyDeleteWow. Now he's hurt.
ReplyDeleteVaritek, with a 2-base bunt!!!
ReplyDeleteLet's get these guys home.
Millar. Nice job. 6-2.
ReplyDeletechip, chip, chip away.
ReplyDeleteDammit. Not Millar's fault, I guess, but you hate to see guys erased from scoring position.
ReplyDeleteDamon looks lost at the plate.
ReplyDeleteDown by 4 -- yuck.
2 now. 2 more next inning. 2 more in the 6th.....
ReplyDeleteThat'll only work if Matt Clement stops giving up bombs. Down by 6 again.
ReplyDeleteGame over.
ReplyDeletesecond guessing is easy, but Clement clearly did not have it - why is he back out there for the 4th after getting a couple runs back....
I was okay with him coming back out. I mean, there are still many games to be played. I'm willing to call it a game and use him to eat innings, rather than burn up the bullpen.
ReplyDeleteBut yeah, that's what everyone will be screaming about tomorrow.
White Sox fans are feeling pretty good about themselves with the Nah, nah , hey hey goodbye.
ReplyDeleteI guess they should considering this is the first home playoff game they will win in what, 20 years.
The screaming will be especially loud if we lose 10-8.
ReplyDeleteThis move (along with just about every move Terry has made in the last 6 weeks) also screams that there is no trust of the bullpen.
Hey on a brighter note, GYS Network is getting close to its 10,000th visitor!!!!
ReplyDeleteJeremi in the game. Good move, really -- I'd hate to see him come in with the game on the line.
ReplyDeleteI hate baseball.
ReplyDeleteMan, how many times have I said that and really thought I meant it? It's sort of like "I'm never drinking alcohol ever again."
Go Angels. I guess.
ReplyDeleteMercifully over.
ReplyDeleteWow....Well, I guess that gives something to the very loyal 40+thousand White Sox fans that have been to every game over the years (sell out after sell out) to be happy about...

After listening to Berman, no wonder I went to Gameday Audio, to listen to Joe & Jerry.
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't Berman have a # of Hate Berman Sites, like McCarver?
