Game 7 open thread

Okay, really now...earlier today I found at least 5 sites (including mlb.com) which said gametime was at 8:00 EST. But that was a lie - Fox coverage begins at 8:00. So seriously: where can you find info on the first pitch? Because those of us watching the game from GMT+1 don't like getting up any earlier than we have to.

Then again, Eric Karros's hair is a sight to behold. He reminds me of this guy.

  1. Holy shit, would McCarver stop calling every Daisuke breaking ball a "gyroball"?

At least Buck got the salary right this time.

    ReplyDelete
  2. X knows where to find the game time. He was quoting 8:23 last night.

DiceK with the strike out of Pronk!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Too bad he never logs in anymore so we can't ask him.

    ReplyDelete
  4. What are the fans chanting? Is it "asshole"? Who to - Lofton?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Eric Wedge is 39. Weird - I thought he was much older than that.

Drew with a GIDP. If not for last night's GS, he'd be booed mercilessly.

    ReplyDelete
  6. someone told me they were chanting "westbrook."

    ReplyDelete
  7. Thanks Terry!

Daisuke with 21 pitches after 2.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Somehow I had convinced myself that Westbrook will have settled down for the 2nd. But: leadoff double to Tek. (Nearly out at 2nd though.)

    ReplyDelete
  9. Jacoby with a single.

McCarver stops watching the game so he can keep a permanent eye on the Cleveland bullpen.

Earl going to set a record for most comments, all by himself.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Lugo double play, scores Varitek.

    ReplyDelete
  11. 3rd inning: Daisuke gives up a hit; Blake to second; but that' it. up to 44 pitches.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Bottom of the 3rd - Youk scores on a Lowell SF. So it's 3-0 Sox...

LONG way to go, but it's hard not to get a little bit excited.

Drew with a long flyout. 2 more feet and that would have done something.

    ReplyDelete
  13. 1 out: Hafner hits a wallball double.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Daisuke makes a fantastic defensive play - knocks down a well-hit ball, holds Hafner, gets Martinez out at 1st. Two outs.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Mark Shapiro and his wife look the same every time Fox shows them: cold and emotionless. Actually he kind of looks like a robot.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Garko fouls off his third 0-2 pitch, making things interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  17. ...and on the 9th or 10th pitch he sees, he doubles Hafner in. 3-1 Sox.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Daisuke looking shaky...

    ReplyDelete
  19. ...but gets Jhonny to ground out. Nice play by Lugo. Middle of the 3rd, Sox up 3-1.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Anyone even reading this? If so, include the magic word ("Gobots") in your next post in this thread and I'll buy you a beer when I return to the states.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Bottom of the 4th: Leadoff single by Tek...score please.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Wedge looks like he's aged fifteen years in the last week.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Nice looking liner by Jacoby knocked down by Garko; Tek out at second.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Ellsbury running on the pitch to Lugo, who singles. First and third, 1 out.

    ReplyDelete
  25. On replay, Westbrook visibly showing frustration...but I think a DP is on its way. Cmon Dustin.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yep - Dustin hits it hard, Lugo runs into Asdrubal, who throws to 1st for the DP. Doesn't look like Dustin ran far - did he stumble?

    ReplyDelete
  27. This is frustrating - again the Indians pitcher is on the ropes all night, and yet the Sox score very little. Meanwhile, Daisuke looks like he's tiring, or losing focus.

The bullpen's rested - I'm all for a quick hook here.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Gives up a leadoff hit to Lofton, who gets thrown out at 2nd by Manny.

    (Replays show he was safe.)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Back to back hits, 1 out...

    yikes.

    ReplyDelete
  30. SF by sizemore...3-2 Sox.

    ReplyDelete
  31. No more damage...Dice K makes it out of the inning. Hopefully we don't see him in the 6th.

Still, 2 runs in 5 IP - not bad.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Youk, Ortiz, Manny go down in order for Westbrook's first perfect inning. I cannot BELIEVE he's still in the game, and that he's pitched as many innings as Daisuke, only giving up one more run.

    Like I said, frustrating.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yes, Okajima in...and as I type this, side retired. On to the bottom of the 6th.

    ReplyDelete
  34. ...and Westbrook just keeps getting better. Three quick outs. Whaaaa?

    ReplyDelete
  35. CRAP - 1 out, top of the 7th, jima; Lugo calls Manny off a deep fly ball, and drops it. Lofton on 2nd.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Okajima gives up a scorcher up the third base line, but Lofton (tying run) is strangely held up at 3rd...

    AHHHHHH

    ReplyDelete
  37. HOLY CRAP! IN A GOOD WAY!

    LOWELL-PEDROIA-YOUKILIS double play.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ellsbury leads off with a single(?) goes to second on a Blake error; Lugo bunts him to third.

    Score, please.

    ReplyDelete
  39. PEDROIAAAAAAAAAA

Funny, I was thinking "suicide squeeze". I like the "two run homer" much better. 5-2 Sox.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Okajima comes back in, which I find surprising. Quickly gives up a bunt single to Sizemore.

I was just looking up whether Papelbon has ever been brought in at the beginning of the 8th, with the idea of pitching 2 innings. Apparently he hasn't. Oh, McCarver just said that. Oh well.

Okajima stays in, though Papelbon is ready.

    ReplyDelete
  41. CRAP - Asdrubal with a single. Hafner - tying run - at the plate, no outs. Papelbon comes in. But you have to think Jima was left in 1 batter (if not two) too many,

    ReplyDelete
  42. Papelbon fans Hafner on three pitches. 1 out.

    ReplyDelete
  43. V-Mart with a DP ball, but only one out. First and third, two outs...

    tense...

    ReplyDelete
  44. YES
    YES
    YES

Garko hits a 1-2 pitch deep, Ellsbury and Drew both have to sprint for it, Ellsbury makes it

Bottom of the 8th, sox up by 3.

    ReplyDelete
  45. McCarver just said no Red Sox fans say anything good about Manny's defense. That's just ridiculous. If anything, Sox fans overestimate his defense. Yes he plays the wall well, but has there ever been a regular Red Sox LFer who doesn't? His arm is special, though.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Lowell with a 1-out double...
Betancourt looking fallible for the first time all postseason.

    ReplyDelete
  47. DREW WITH A LINER UP THE MIDDLE
    6-2 Sox.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Fun fact: the sun rises at 5:30am in Israel.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Weird - Finland is almost 8 degrees west of Israel, but is one time zone later. Maybe it's daylight savings or something.

    ReplyDelete
  50. All Sox on the railing, except Papelbon, giving his locked-in-robot look.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Indians are imploding - Peralta and Blake collide trying to catch a Varitek popup. Runners on 2nd and 3rd, 1 out.

Intentional walk of Ellsbury, to face Lugo.

    Cmon Lugo. Make them pay.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Shapiro looking less robot-like - betraying some emotion. Sadness.

    ReplyDelete
  53. That's two consecutive comments involving robots.

    ReplyDelete
  54. or, you know, strike out.

    Let's score some runs, Dustin.

    ReplyDelete
  55. WOW

    Doubles in three more runs.

Eric Wedge comes to get Betancourt. He looks older.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Now this is just getting silly. Youk homers (Lewis pitching). 11-2 Sox.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I was super-tense about 30 minutes ago.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Sox fans singing the NaNaNa Hey Hey Hey Goodbye. I hate that.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Ortiz strikes out to end the inning.

    Papelbon: 3 more outs.

    BRING IN GAGNE

    ReplyDelete
  60. Perlata: leadoff single.

Finish the game please. Earl needs sleep.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Ellsbury with an awesome diving catch of a Lofton flare. 2 outs to go.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Ortiz in goggles already!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Crisp catches a Gutierrez flyball

    ONE OUT TO GO

    ReplyDelete
  64. CRISP WITH AN AWESOME CATCH

    GAME OVER

    WORLD SERIES

    ReplyDelete
  65. I'll try to be back on line. Didn't want to jinx anything, plus not much sleep and flying back and forth.

    This is awesome.....
