Post Season Predictions
We need to get this on the books quick. How about we make some lame-ass predictions about the post season? Here are a couple of topics to pick from or feel free to add your own categories:
1. Will The Twin's and Pitching be too much to handle or not enough?
2. Will Oakland's bat be enough to get by?
3. Will the Yankees get their act together or will their big names up-stage each other?
4. Which Detroit team will show up?
5. Will the Mets raly?
6. Will the Cardinals Conintue to Slide?
7. Will the best rotation in the league possibly the MLB (San Diego) get through to World Series?
8. Will the ex-sox (LA) win it all?
More in the comments about my lame-ass predictions!

Let me rephrase your post:
ReplyDelete1) will the Twins win the WS?
2) will the A's win the WS?
3) will the Yanks win the WS?
4) will the Tigers win the WS?
5) will the Mets win the WS?
6) will the Cards win the WS?
7) will the Padres win the WS?
8) will the Dodgers win the WS?
My predictions: seven no's and and one yes.
Ok, as promised, LAME-ass predictions:
ReplyDelete1. Johan will be 3-0, 30 ks, ERA under 2, but it won't be enough to knock out the Yankees in the ALCS as they lose in 6 games
2. Oakland will squeeze out two wins against the softer side of the Twin's rotation, but wont' be able to muster enough offense to beat Santana (see above) and Nathan will win one.
3. Unfortunately, the Yankees will continue to play well. Call them "competently dysfunctional".
4. Detroit could take the Yankees deep, but I see them continuing on their Cardinal-esque slide.
5. This might be the biggest unkown in the post-season. My guess is yes and no. They will get to the NLCS and be out-pitched, imagine that?!
6. Not even worth posting a comment - they're simply unimpressive.
7. San Diego will have their hands full with the Yankees but might be able to pull it out.
8. LA will give the Mets a run for their money, but will find a way to lose in some greuling way. Sorta sounds like the Sox pre-2004. Huh, imagine that!
PS - I hate Earl ;-)
ReplyDeletePPS - If I had posted my comment soon after my post I think it would have added more context, although I feel more like Peter N with each additional word I type.
Here are my replies:
ReplyDelete1. Will The Twin's and Pitching be too much to handle or not enough? - Yes
2. Will Oakland's bat be enough to get by? If their pitching is good.
3. Will the Yankees get their act together or will their big names up-stage each other? My prediction. Pain. Of course that is really in relation to Mr. T's new TV show "I Pity the Fool." It starts this week.
4. Which Detroit team will show up? The Tigers.
5. Will the Mets raly?I'm not sure they will raly. But they could rally if their offense steps up. However I now hope they crash and burn. As Early pointed out, the whole "shocking" devlopment that Pedro is done. Is laughable. Just like the Sox or any team with a pyroll over $100MM - if one player goes down, shame on you for not having depth.
6. Will the Cardinals Conintue to Slide? Yes.
7. Will the best rotation in the league possibly the MLB (San Diego) get through to World Series? People a little north of SD may argue YES, the best rotation (Maddux, Penny and Lowe) WILL be enough to get through to the WS.
8. Will the ex-sox (LA) win it all? Better question is will Thee be awarded a WS share and a ring.
Okay, cheap shots at Dino aside.
ReplyDeleteNY over DET in 3.
Oak over MN in 4.
Oak over NY in 7. Maybe 6.
LA over NY in 3
SD over STL in 4
LA over SD in 6.
OAK over LA in 5.
My favorite:
ReplyDelete4. Which Detroit team will show up? The Tigers.
That's a safe bet. But it sure would be cool if the Fury showed up instead.
My predictions:
Yanks over Tigers in 4*
Minnesota over Oakland in 5
Mets over Dodgers in 5
SD over StL in 3
Minn over Yanks in 6
Mets over SD in 6
Minn over Mets in 5
* Assuming the Tigers show up. If the Fury shows up instead, I say the Fury in 3. And you all will owe me a beer.
Oo oo oo! I got one!
ReplyDelete6. Will the Cardinals Continue to Slide?
Yes, if there's a close play at the plate (they're good at fundamentals).
(Maybe that's what X meant.)
