A great day of baseball. And one of the funniest moments came in the bottom of the ninth in the Tigers game. For a brief second ESPN caught a Tiger fan holding up a "Billy Crystal Sucks" sign. Classic.
If Oakland keeps hitting, they will go far. And one more today in motor city....my place will be hopping starting shortly after 4 today. A few friends, a few beers, a few more Yankee scoreless innings (maybe, oh, say 9?) and utter joy. And from that point on I'll be rooting for the felines to win the whole damn thing! A thank you gesture.
And the chants of Mar-co Scu-ta-ro were awesome. Especially for a player who was such an underdog to even make the majors. Not too long ago I watched a documentary on the 2001 Indianapolis Indians (AAA affiliate) - Scutaro was their MVP and he (and his wife) came across as really genuine people struggling to make it in Amercia (new language, away from home, new food, wife with no car, and feeling the responsibility to send $$ back home). Even though he was their MVP the Tribe did not call him up in Sep (40 man roster issues) and then they released him that winter - where he went to the Mets, made his debut, but got cut again before OAK picked him up.

ReplyDeleteAwesome. My pick of the Twins to win the whole thing sure looks good now, huh.
