Less than a month until pitchers and catchers report...I can't wait...
That leads me again to this conclusion....
We are in the Delgado hunt. We have signed McCarty to a minor league deal (remember this guy was going to retire and has now agreed to a minor league deal?)...I can't see with the whole "ball" thing, that the Sox keep Mient. That seems to be the way this front office does business. They alienate players on the way out...boooo (although Pedro alienated himself)...Millar and Kim could be dealt...
Then Delgado is signed and McCarty is brought up...
Just my guess...I just can't see resigning a guy who was going to retire if we were keeping Millar and/or Mient...I mean, for Theo to get this guy to agree to a minor league deal, he must have begged him to stay...
I doubt Theo would beg anyone. More like McCarty realized that he had little option and his retirement talk, Stanford degree or no Stanford degree, was a bunch of nonsense. Every year 15 players say they are going to retire, but then when faced with pumping gas for a living all of sudden they love the game.
ReplyDeleteI think Mientkiewicz is gone, but not due to the ball issue. That was just Lucchino being Lucchino. It sounds like the Mets might have interest, if they can’t land Delgado. Lord knows with that infield, they could use some to pick it over at first.
Speaking of Delgado, I just don’t see the Sox signing him. He reminds me too much of Mo Vaughn and we remember how well he aged. I think they will stick with Millar once they deal Doug.
