Mets trade and sign EVERYONE in MLB

No seriously, the Mets just locked up the 2006 season by buying every single free agent and trading for every player of value. "It's going to be quite a camp," Manager Randolph explained in a statement released to the press. "I think we have like 10 guys competiting for the catcher position and a couple of them have been All-Stars!" he added.

  1. Its like that article in the Onion a few years back that had the Yankees doing just that - and it had a doctored photo with all players in Yankee garb.

They sure are going crazy, but they still project to have a lesser payroll than the Yanks by about $60-70 million. And will be less than even the Sox.

For some reason the Omar Minaya Era is eerily reminiscent of the Dan Duquette Era in Boston. GM comes to large market from Montreal. Flush with new found cash, makes significant player acquisitions (both even acquired Pedro!!) and just like the Duke, I can see Omar wearing out his welcome in a few years time.
