There are two possibilities here:You have to assume it's number two, but whatever; the HOF is almost certainly the issue. Anyway, am I the only one who finds this quote from his lawyer a little odd?1. Clemens didn’t do it and he’s fighting the good fight to clear his name.
2. Clemens did do it but he’s going to deny, deny, deny and hope the waters are cloudy enough to still get in the Hall of Fame.
"We are convinced the conclusions in Mitchell's report are wrong and are investigating the findings ourselves."If the descriptions of needles being stuck into Roger's butt are simply lies, wouldn't you say things a bit more forcefully than you are "convinced" that the "conclusions" are wrong?
And really, if Clemens was innocent, would it really have taken him 5 days to have his lawyer release a statement, then 3 more days to announce that you will give an interview, then 3 more days to release a You Tube denial.

Earl is accused of stealing the basis for his doctoral thesis.
Carl Everett gets accused of hiring someone that had been sent over from an agency and then not paying the fee.
GR gets accused of stealing a flat screen from HBS.
I get accused of diverting a wire transfer to my own account.
If any of these things happened to us and they were not true, would we not use any and all forums to profess our innocence?
And Clemens, seriously, with one phone call could get himself booked on any show - any ESPN show, Jim Rome, any Fox sports show, hell even the major networks would have made him a headline. And why has he not (very publicly) offerred to go to Congress and tell his side of the story (under oath).
Don't they always say in law enforcement that if you arrest a guilty man, he will sleep like a baby in his cell, but an innocent one will be pacing all night?
And that quote from Rog's lawyers continues:

I'm pretty sure that Mitchell asked to speak with Clemens himself, but Clemens (like all ohter players who eventually were named) declined. So, yeah, I would agree there are a lot of logical people, starting with Clemens.
Judging by everything I am reading, Clemens appears to be heading toward a "McNamee injected me with b-12 or some other vitamin/supplement" story/ defense. Frpm the Mitchell report McNamee says Roger supplied the roids and HGH. So clemens will just claim McNamee misunderstood what was being injected, or some other similar excuse. And without any hard evidence, its he said, she said.
